March 2026 Spud Wood
Eleven Strollers on the return leg of our 3-mile walk from Lymm centre to Helsdale and Spud Woods. We enjoyed good views and the paths were easily passable despite heavy overnight rain. The walk ended with delicious homemade lunches and cakes in Lymm Village Hall. A big thank-you to the Methodist Church’s Lunch at the Brow volunteers for providing this and welcoming us and our slightly muddy boots!

February 2026 Lymm
Despite the gloomy weather thirteen enthusiastic strollers set off from The Crown on a two mile walk around Massey Brook. The rain kept off mainly, despite a pessimistic weather forecast. The Crown made us very welcome and set a table aside so we could all sit together. Everybody enjoyed their lunch which featured generous portions.

November 2025
A 3 mile walk was enjoyed by 7 intrepid members in freezing cold weather on 21 November. Numbers were low because the walk was one postponed from the previous week due to a horrendous forecast. The first section from Lymm on the canal bank to Statham was dry and fine but the next section, through narrow paths past Meadow View Fisheries a little tricky due to puddles and wet ground. However, the icy fields were a real picture and camaraderie was fine as members helped others along. It was good to get out despite the very cold day; a bit challenging for Strollers so well done to all.

The Face
It was a lovely sunny day at the end of February when Sheila led the Strollers on an interesting walk up to the Dream, a 20-metre-high Sculpture located on the former summit of Sutton Colliery. St. Helens. It stands as a monument to the past as well as a symbol of hope for the future. The group enjoyed a tasty lunch afterwards.

Thirteen intrepid Strollers thoroughly enjoyed a lovely winter walk in Walton. Snow and ice had hardly melted from the previous two days but all the group were up to the challenge, so we altered the route slightly to avoid an icy footpath then walked from Hill Cliffe car park, up to Fox Covert's lychgate, down what is known as 'The Canyon' then joined the rather muddy & soggy footpath across the back of Walton golf course, enroute back to Fox Covert. A heavy hailstorm halted us for a while in a wooded copse before the undeterred group made its way back uphill to Hill Cliffe Baptist Church to enjoy coffee and home-made cakes at their Friday coffee morning. We all braved the elements without mishap on some slippery ground and felt better for a bracing dose of fresh winter air. A good time was had by a group who were also pleased to be introduced to a great weekly coffee morning venue. Return visits will be made! Sheila
