This group will appeal to able walkers who enjoy a relaxed walk.
Walks will be between 5 and 7 miles.
The walks will be local or within 40 minutes drive of Lymm/Thelwall.
Participants will bring a packed lunch.
A description of the walk will be published in advance so potential participants can assess whether it is suitable for them.
Each walk will be for up to 20 people.
Sorry but no dogs to be brought on walks.

June 2026 Whalley Range
A hardy group of 8 ramblers set out from Whalley Bridge in full waterproofs, hoping that the weather would improve. We stopped to look at progress in repairing Todbrook reservoir that was in danger of collapsing in 2019. Fortunately it was saved but repairs are not yet quite finished. We then headed up the Goyt Valley, sadly with poor views due to the persistent rain, until we arrived at our lunch stop at Fernilee reservoir. As we sat down the sun started to shine, making this a walk of two halves. We walked back along the river Goyt, arriving in Whalley Bridge under a beautiful blue sky, where we enjoyed coffee and cake before returning to our cars.
May 2026 Burwardsley
Thirteen members gathered at the Sandstone Trail car park in Burwardsley for the latest Friday Ramble. Steady climbing through beautiful woods yielded ample rewards as we gazed across large parts of the county, as far as Jodrell Bank. It was a seven mile route full of interesting features such as a stone elephant with a castle on its back!
April 2026 The Sankey Valley
The Friday Ramblers gathered at Sankey Valley Visitor Centre near St Helens for a mainly flat, 8-mile walk. We enjoyed birdsong, bluebells, sunshine and trees newly in leaf plus lots of chat and laughter. Our lunch stop was on 19 Arch Bridge, with a view of Carr Mill reservoir. The walk finished with a welcome drink at the pub beside the visitor centre.
March 2026 Stretton
There was a chill in the air as seventeen members headed out of Stretton on a six mile walk around Appleton and Grappenhall, led most capably by Jim. It was cleverly worked that we had both our coffee break and lunch in the Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden and, despite cold rain late in the day, it was a cheerful crowd who finished back at the cars.
February 2026 Daresbury
Fourteen members met in the car park of Daresbury Church, for a walk led by Elaine. It was a chilly morning but the conversation was warm as we walked through the Cheshire countryside and along the Bridgewater Canal, eating lunch on a couple of stone benches by the canal, across from the Daresbury Campus.
January 2026 Duncan's Disorientating Delamere Dawdle
Eleven members met in Delamere Forest for a walk labelled as Duncan’s Disorientated Delamere Dawdle. We met several Gruffalo characters on the way and walked up to the top of Old Pale Hill, the highest point on the Cheshire Plain. Normally, we should see seven counties but visibility was limited on this cold, dull day.
