Buckley's Restaurant Warrington College
What a super time we had at Buckley’s Restaurant at Warrington College. The students, many in Level 1, cooked and looked after 40 of us brilliantly! A lovely occasion.

Sherlock Holmes August 2025 Some members enjoyed an afternoon in the sunshine in Chester’s Grosvenor Park watching a theatrical performance by the Storyhouse group. The performance was ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’. It was a novel experience. Audience members ate picnics as the play unfolded and at the interval an old-fashioned ice cream cart was wheeled on to the stage, attracting a long line of customers in the heat. The performance was energetic, cleverly staged, funny and, at times, manic.

Clemley Gardens July 2025 Twenty-five members drove down the country lanes to Clemley Gardens and spent a lovely, sun-filled afternoon wandering around this two acre site near Tarporley and enjoying the hospitality provided by the owners and their family. The scones, cakes and cups of tea went down very well! Clemley Gardens is an organic, wildlife friendly cottage garden with orchards, two ponds, a wildflower meadow and nesting boxes among many other features. It proved to be an enjoyable, relaxing and informative experience.

Hack Green Secret Bunker June 2024
Our latest trip took us to Hack Green Secret Bunker, near Nantwich and not that secret these days as it happens, with brown signs pointing the way from five miles out. Hidden deep in the Cheshire countryside, the bunker remained secret for more than fifty years and was a base for the North West of England’s monitoring of activity during the Cold War before being declassified in 1993.

Mad March Social March 2025
Easter bonnets and daffodils were on display in the Village Hall as 61 members supported the latest social, organised by the Social Team. As tables tucked into a sumptuous buffet there was chance to digest and ponder over questions on the latest Quiz. Then came our musical highlight with a forty-five minute set by popular local musician and wordsmith Paul Thompson

Lion Salt Works Trip January 2025
Forty-four members enjoyed a guided tour and afternoon tea at the Lion Salt Works in Marston, near Northwich. Salt making in Cheshire goes back over 2000 years and the two groups were given an entertaining and fascinating history of the industry and the site. Te. We finished our afternoon in the cafe where we enjoyed an excellent spread prepared by some young people who need support in the workplace and their trainers giving them an opportunity to learn important hospitality skills.

Over seventy members braved Storm Darragh to shelter in a warm, convivial environment at the Christmas Social in the Lymm Village Hall. Encouraged to wear something Christmassy, the response was excellent, creating a festive and colourful scene.
